How to prevent your hair from tangling

Tangled hair is a true nightmare for many. Whatever be your hair type no one is safe from hair entanglement, especially those with long hair or curly hair. Tangled hair is a frustrating problem, getting rid of the tangles can be painful and painstaking, not to mention, it’s bad for your hair. Luckily, there are some easy and not so painful ways to deal with hair tangles.

Before we get into the tips and tricks to combat tangles and minimize knots in your hair. Let’s look at what causes hair tangling? The main causes of hair entanglement are:

  • Lack of hydration

Lack of moisture in the hair can lead to creating more friction and tension in your hair, which then creates tangles.

  • Not combing

Not brushing your hair daily can lead to hair tangle. When you don’t comb your hair daily, the oil or residues that build up in your hair over time create knots and disrupt the health of your hair.

  • Untrimmed dry ends

Not trimming your hair results in split ends and frizzy hair. Dry, frizzy strands and split ends can create knots and tangle easily.

Now that we know how tangles form let’s look at some effective ways to minimise the hair tangling.

CONDITION YOUR HAIR

The first and foremost is to condition your hair and keep it hydrated and moisturised as possible. Merely shampooing your hair is not good enough. Always finish with a moisture-locking conditioner. Conditioner helps to keep the moisture, smoothen your hair and softens dry strands effectively.

OIL YOUR HAIR REGULARLY

By oiling your hair daily you can give your hair a healthy dose of moisture it needs regularly. Organic coconut oil is an excellent way to show some love to your locks. Coconut oil is very effective when comes to moisturising hair and it works great on all hair types. Mixing coconut oil with jojoba and olive oils can help you get rid of tangles and get long-lasting results.

RINSE WITH COLD WATER

This is a simple yet effective step. Rinsing your locks with cold water helps to close hair cuticles and prevent any further breakage. It also helps to remove rough and dry strands of hair.

AVOID USING HEAT STYLING TOOLS

Heat styling tools like blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons can cause hair damage on prolonged use. It sucks out the moisture from the hair, which then leads to tangling. To avoid this you can apply a heat protectant before heat styling your hair.

These are some ways you can untangle your hair without damaging it. This way you don’t have to tangle with your hair daily. Just follow these tips and you will have a tangle-free healthy hair.
