Acne (Pimple) Management

Acne is primarily a hormonal condition driven by male or ‘androgenic’ hormones, which typically become active during the teenage years. Sensitivity to such hormones, combined with bacteria on the skin, and fatty acids within oil glands, cause acne. Common sites for acne are the face, chest, shoulders, and back — the sites of oil glands. Acne lesions include whiteheads, blackheads, small bumps, and nodules and cysts. Over-the-counter (OTC) pimple treatments often contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. Prescription medication for pimples includes topical treatment, antibiotics, isotretinoin, and laser and light therapy.

We firmly believe that you should be fully involved in and informed about decisions concerning the management of your skin condition. We explain to you the possible effects of any intervention, both beneficial and adverse. Consequently, you are fully informed about your diagnosis and management and are involved in decisions about your care.

We take you through a number of pre-treatment checks to ensure we deliver the best possible results every time.

The side effects of peel treatments are usually mild and include burning or stinging skin, itchiness, dry skin and redness of the skin.

For better results, we would recommend 5-6 sessions at 2-3 week intervals with follow up treatments every month. We offer microneedling treatment for post acne atrophic scars.
