We provide treatments for the following skin conditions :

 

Psoriasis

It is a chronic skin condition that causes red, flaky patches of skin covered with silvery scales. It is asymptomatic. It can affect scalp, nails and joints. The condition gets exacerbated by mental stress, injury, infections and certain drugs.

 

Lichen Planus

It is characterised by violaceous coloured lesions over body. This is associated with itching. New lesions can occur at sites of injury.

 

Eczema

It is characterised by itchy lesions with oozing and crusting. It has three stages – acute, sub-acute and chronic. Chronic stage is characterised by thick and leathery skin. Some of the common conditions are:

  • Contact Dermatitis – It can be induced by sunlight or contact with allergens like detergents, soaps, hair dye, leather or rubber, cement etc.
  • Atopic Dermatitis – This is mostly seen in children with family history of allergy.
  • Seborrheic Dermatitis – The patient is present with dandruff and itchy lesions over face, body folds, chest and upper back.
  • Stasis Dermatitis – This is seen over legs in those with varicose veins.
  • Nummular Dermatitis – This is a rare skin condition characterised by coin-shaped spots on the skin.
  • Asteatotic Dermatitis – It is characterised by pruritic, dry, cracked, and fissured skin with a ‘crazy pavement’ pattern.

 

Infections

  • Bacterial Infection – Mostly caused by Staphylococcus and streptococcus. Patient presents with painful, pus filled lesion over hair follicle and surrounding skin. Nail fold infection is another manifestation. Deep infection called cellulites can present as redness, swelling, pain of affected area.
  • Fungal infection  Most common is ring worm infection characterised by itchy round lesions over the body, mainly in body folds.
  • Viral infection  Chicken pox, herpes, molluscum and warts are the major viral infections affecting the skin.

 

Vitiligo

It is a chronic condition that can affect any area of skin – localised or generalised, and is characterised by irregularly shaped whitish lesions that lack the normal melanin pigmentation.

 

Vasculitis

It is inflammation of blood vessel walls. These may be arteries, veins or both, and can affect any part of the body. It can present as bleeding spot in the skin, or ulcers.

 

Vesiculo Bullous Disease

It is characterised by large fluid filled lesions / blisters over the skin and oral cavity.

 

Drug Reactions

This is induced by intake of drugs. The various manifestations are wheal formation, pruritic rash, oral cavity and genital ulceration, charred lesions of body, etc. Fluid filled lesions and generalised skin peeling can occur.

 

Pigmentation

These are conditions such as melasma, post inflammatory pigmentation, macular amyloidosis and LPP. All these can cause hyper-pigmented / dark lesions on the body. Some pigmentation are deep and resistant to treatments.

 

Leprosy (Hansen’s disease)

It is a chronic infection of skin caused by a bacterium. It is characterised by anaesthetic hypopigmented / pale white lesions or multiple infiltrated lesions / nodules. Peripheral nerves are affected. Leprosy can be completely cured.

 

Sexually Transmitted Infections

These are conditions such as Herpes Genitalis, Syphilis, Gonorehoea, Chancroid, LGV and Genital Warts. Herpes Genitalis presents as fluid filled lesions over genetalia. Syphilis, chancroid and LGV presents with genital ulcers. Gonorrhoea presents as pain during urination and pus discharge from urethra.
